A Vıdeo for Flıpped Classroom
Hello dear followers!!
Today's blog will be about the flipped classroom approach. In our last class, our teacher mentioned this topic, and it really caught my attention. To briefly explain, according to the flipped classroom approach, the teacher shares a video explaining the next lesson's topic with the students before the class. Additionally, the teacher includes tools like tests or quizzes to measure whether the students have understood the topic. In class, the topic is reviewed again, which allows students to revise and, in my opinion, significantly increases participation. It also boosts students' confidence in the target lesson. Moreover, students can rewatch the parts of the video they didn't understand as many times as they want, which isn’t always possible in class. Additionally, by watching the video, students learn the easier, theoretical parts beforehand, leaving the classroom activities focused more on communication, interaction, and practice. However, there are, of course, some disadvantages. For instance, not all students have equal access to technological devices, which might prevent them from completing the assigned work. This could negatively affect the flow of the lesson.
That’s not all I want to share! Now, let me tell you a bit about the task I completed with my dear friends Dilara and Perihan as a group. While working on this task, we naturally divided the responsibilities among ourselves. Perihan handled the text in the video, Dilara edited the video using Animaker, and I created the quiz on the Wordwall website. We all did our best. A week after the task was assigned, we brought our first drafts to class and received feedback from both our teacher and another group(s). We also had the chance to review the tasks of our peers. Based on this feedback, we made the necessary additions and changes.
I didn’t struggle with much during this process because the task itself wasn’t very difficult. To be honest, the video editing part was a bit challenging, but Dilara enjoys editing, so she took on that responsibility. Whenever we faced challenges, we helped each other since we were in constant communication. Apart from that, it was a task I enjoyed completing. I’ve left the link to our video below because I think you’ll have fun watching it too. (At the end of the video, you can scan the QR code to test your knowledge!) Have fun, and let’s meet in the comments—I’m curious to hear your thoughts!
